“An inventor with a dramatic life story is behind a tool set to reach a global market” — The Times

Teclit Sebhatu is an award-winning innovator who has forged a path from a remote Eritrean village to leading creative advisor/ technical thinker.

Born a farmer’s son in a rural village without water or electricity, Teclit had to find solutions from an early age.

From finding a way past wild animals to get to school to achieving a UK Master’s degree in Product Design against the odds, his creativity and resolve has pushed him to succeed.

After moving to Ethiopia to further his education, Teclit sought asylum in Europe when war erupted between his resident country and his homeland.

He went by the name Michael, an anglicised version of his middle name, and did it the hard way; working as an apprentice and a kitchen fitter en route to acquiring a mechanical engineering degree (BEng) and a Masters in product design.

A potent mixture of formal training and vast practical experience in engineering, design and branding gave Teclit the tools he needed to come up with the invention that would change his life, and the construction industry forever.

And the rest is history

Teclit’s pioneering QUADSAW became the first square cutter ever invented. It converted circular motion into a lateral action, allowing the user to punch perfect square holes into a wall.

The startling success of the QUADSAW propelled Teclit’s creativity to new heights. Dedicated to developing his inventions from concept to fully functional products, his unique creative insight has helped multiple companies and individuals change their mindset and break the barriers holding them back.

Today, Teclit is the co-founder and director of several UK companies, with a focus on creating ground-breaking products with a global appeal.
